Tezzbuzz Desk- In the 56th match of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans performed brilliantly at their home ground Narendra Modi Stadium and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a huge margin of 82 runs. With this win, Gujarat registered its fourth consecutive and eighth win of the season and again secured the first position in the points table and almost moved towards the playoffs.
This match proved to be historic for Gujarat Titans, as it was their biggest win in IPL history in terms of runs, while it also became Sunrisers Hyderabad’s lowest score in IPL history.
After the toss and early setbacks, Gujarat Titans’ innings got off to a slow start. The team could score only 34 runs in the powerplay and captain Shubman Gill (5) and Jos Buttler (7) were out early. Despite this, Sai Sudarshan once again batted brilliantly and scored his third consecutive half-century and played an important inning of 61 runs.
Sudarshan along with Washington Sundar made a partnership of 60 runs for the fourth wicket. Sundar also played a useful inning of 50 runs, due to which Gujarat somehow managed to score a competitive score of 168 runs for 5 wickets. For Sunrisers, Pat Cummins took 1 wicket and Prafulla Hinge took 2 wickets, but the rest of the bowlers could not make an impact.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had a very bad start while chasing the target. Gujarat’s fast bowlers created pressure from the beginning. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Travis Head for a duck in the very first over, while Kagiso Rabada sent Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Ravichandran Smaran to the pavilion early.
Sunrisers had lost four wickets for just 32 runs and the team was completely on the back foot. Even after this, the process of falling wickets continued and by the 11th over the team had lost seven wickets for 60 runs. Captain Pat Cummins struggled by scoring 19 runs, but due to the lethal bowling of Jason Holder and Prasidh Krishna, the entire team was reduced to just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.
With this win, Gujarat Titans not only secured the top position in the points table but also gave a clear message to the other teams that they are one of the strongest contenders this season.
