Kanahosahalli: Strong winds that swept through the Kanahosahalli region on Tuesday evening damaged a government school building and completely flattened a poultry farm shed in Yambali Vaddarahatti village.
The roof sheets of the Government Higher Primary School in the village were blown away during the storm. Rain accompanied by strong winds was reported in different parts of the taluk, causing heavy damage in Yambali Vaddarahatti village.
According to local officials, metal sheet truss roofing had been installed over the RCC school building to prevent rainwater leakage. Due to the strong winds, the sheets covering two classrooms were blown away.
No one was present at the school when the incident occurred, and no injuries were reported. Since schools are currently closed for holidays, some students and youths were regularly playing near the school premises. However, no one was near the building when the sheets fell.
In another incident, a poultry farming shed belonging to farmer Channabasappa, located between Yambali Vaddarahatti and Sultanpur villages, completely collapsed in the storm, causing major losses.
The roof sheets in front of the houses belonging to Marappa and Gangappa from the same village were also blown away.
Village Administrative Officer Dharmendra Nayak and gram panchayat staff visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
