Chennai Super Kings Sign 24-Year-Old Karnataka Player as Ghosh's IPL 2026 Replacement

Chennai Super Kings have signed Macneil Hadley Noronha as the replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh for the remainder of IPL 2026. Ghosh made his debut earlier this month against Mumbai Indians but suffered a foot fracture in the same match which ruled him out of the tournament.

 

With Noronha joining the team CSK demonstrates their intention to build a younger roster instead of using their traditional method of selecting seasoned players. The five-time champions currently sit fifth on the IPL 2026 points table with six wins and five defeats from 11 matches.

 

The 24-year-old Karnataka all-rounder who CSK acquired from Ghosh's injury replacement. Noronha made his senior debut for Karnataka in 2024 and last played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy during December 2025. The player has participated in three T20 matches until now during which he scored 58 runs and earned one wicket.

 

He captured public attention by scoring 253 runs with Mangaluru Dragons during the 2025 Maharaja Trophy. In 13 matches he achieved a strike rate of 148.82 while hitting 19 sixes. Noronha also impressed with the ball by claiming 10 wickets.

 

The five-time champions are already dealing with several injuries, with players like Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed ruled out of the tournament. Ghosh, who spent the entire IPL 2025 on the bench, finally got his first chance against MI on Saturday. He made an impact straight away by taking a wicket and completing a superb catch.

CSK commented issued on social media platforms: “Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026.”

 

Ghosh delivered an economical performance during his debut match by conceding 24 runs across three overs while taking one wicket. Ghosh established his presence in the game by successfully getting rid of Suryakumar Yadav, which became his first IPL wicket. The Indian T20I captain attempted a powerful shot but only managed to hit the ball to sweeper cover, resulting in his dismissal.
