Actress Neelima Azeem has once again spoken openly about the difficult phases of her personal life, including her three marriages, public judgement and the emotional impact of online trolling. Known for her honesty in interviews, Neelima recently reflected on how years of criticism and assumptions about her relationships affected her emotionally, even though she has now learned to accept herself and move forward.

Neelima was first married to actor Pankaj Kapur and the couple welcomed their son, actor Shahid Kapoor. After their separation, she married actor Rajesh Khatter, with whom she has another son Ishaan Khatter. Her third marriage was with Ustaad Raza Ali Khan.

In her latest interview, Neelima spoke about the harsh and often baseless comments she receives on social media. She revealed that people regularly make assumptions about her appearance and personal life without knowing the truth. Recalling one recent comment, she said someone accused her of looking unwell because of alcohol, even though she does not drink at all. According to Neelima, social media has become a space where people make false statements very casually, without thinking about the emotional impact on others.

The actress also addressed the criticism she has faced for her marriages not working out. She explained that she never chose relationships based on money, status or career benefits. Instead, she married men whom she believed were talented, genuine and good human beings. Neelima stressed that she always tried to build her own identity through hard work rather than depending on someone else for success.

Over the years, she worked in theatre, television, hosting and dance, while continuing her acting career. Neelima revealed that she has won 27 Best Actress awards and worked with some of the finest actors in the industry, but she rarely spoke publicly about her achievements or promoted herself aggressively.

She admitted that she now feels the need to share her side of the story because remaining silent often allows others to shape false narratives. According to Neelima, if a person does not speak up, people begin changing facts and damaging reputations over time. She further said that what hurt her the most was seeing women judge and shame other women instead of showing empathy and support.

Talking about the end of her marriages, Neelima explained that separations are never easy and no one enters a marriage expecting it to fail. Reflecting on her relationship with Pankaj Kapur, she shared that they separated when their son Shahid Kapoor was only three years old and she herself was very young.

Looking back, Neelima said she no longer overthinks the past but still believes introspection is important for personal growth. She explained that relationships sometimes fail because two people grow differently over time and may not remain emotionally compatible. According to her, marriage is not always about one person being right or wrong; often it is about timing, emotional understanding and whether two individuals are in the same phase of life.

She also revisited her second marriage with Rajesh Khatter, which she had previously discussed in a 2021 interview. Neelima said that the marriage might have survived if certain difficult situations had not happened. She described that phase as emotionally exhausting and admitted that pressures, struggles and challenges in Mumbai’s entertainment industry can deeply affect relationships and individuals.

Despite those hardships, Neelima said she always found the strength to rebuild herself. She credited her sons Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter for becoming her biggest source of happiness, encouragement and emotional support during the toughest moments of her life.

In the interview, Neelima also reflected on her own mistakes and personal growth. She said she never intentionally hurt anyone and whatever mistakes she made were never done consciously. According to her, nobody is perfect and people should not be judged forever for the difficult decisions or failures in their lives.

Today, Neelima says she has finally reached a stage where she values and accepts herself completely. She admitted that while society often made her feel ashamed about her choices, she has learned to stop carrying that guilt. She said that above everything else, the love she has for her children and herself has helped her heal and move ahead with confidence.
