Prateek Yadav
Prateek Yadav, husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav and stepbrother of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, died on Wednesday after being taken to Civil Hospital in Lucknow. Fresh details have now emerged about the events leading up to his death.

According to a report by TOI, Prateek woke up around 4 am at his Lucknow residence to drink water near his bedroom when he suddenly collapsed.

His father-in-law, Arvind Singh Bisht, said an attendant at the house later described what happened. As per the account, Prateek had stepped out to drink water when the glass slipped from his hand and he fell to the ground.

Initially, the attendant reportedly assumed he might have been feeling weak or dizzy. However, after checking on him again moments later, he realised the situation was serious.

Bisht said the attendant became alarmed after Prateek failed to respond normally following the fall.

At around 5 am, the attendant contacted Aman Singh Bisht, Aparna Yadav’s brother, who lives nearby. Aman rushed to the residence and took Prateek to Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Postmortem findings reportedly suggested that Prateek died due to a massive pulmonary thromboembolism — a dangerous condition caused by a blood clot blocking blood flow to the lungs, often leading to sudden cardiac and respiratory failure.

Sources also claimed that Prateek had been receiving treatment for health issues including hypertension and pulmonary embolism and was taking blood-thinning medicines.

Prateek was the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhna Gupta. While he belonged to one of Uttar Pradesh’s most prominent political families, he mostly stayed away from politics and was better known in Lucknow for his interest in fitness and gym culture.

His final rites are scheduled to take place at Baikunth Dham later today.
