France's First Lady Brigitte Macron reportedly slapped President Emmanuel Macron during a foreign trip last year after allegedly finding messages exchanged between him and Iranian-born actress Golshifteh Farahani on his phone, a newly published French political book has claimed. According to the book, Macron reportedly exchanged messages with Golshifteh Farahani, which the author describes as a "platonic relationship". The bombshell allegations were made in Un Couple (Presque) Parfait (“An Almost Perfect Couple”), written by journalist Florian Tardif, and has sparked controversy, reports Times of India. The book has linked the alleged message exchanges to a viral 2025 incident involving Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron aboard a plane in Vietnam.

According to excerpts cited by French and British media, the author alleged that one line from the message reportedly read, "I find you very beautiful". The book has gained international attention as it tries to explain a viral incident involving the French president and First Lady during their official trip to Vietnam in 2025.
The viral video had shown Brigitte Macron abruptly pushing or striking Macron’s face while they stood near the aircraft doorway, and the video spread like wildfire on social media. Although Macron dismissed the incident as playful behaviour between a married couple but the video triggered massive speculations online. Later, French officials confirmed the footage was authentic.
The author has publicly defended the book, saying that the material was based on conversations with sources close to the couple. Tardif’s book claimed the argument was linked to Brigitte Macron allegedly seeing messages involving Farahani during the flight. According to the author, tensions between the couple escalated before they exited the aircraft.
She is also reportedly involved in environmental causes, and is an advocate for the eradication of tuberculosis in Iran. Before leaving Iran, Golshifteh Farahani was part of the band Kooch Neshin (Nomads), which won the second Tehran Avenue underground rock competition. After going into exile, she collaborated with fellow Iranian musician Mohsen Namjoo on the album Oy, released in October 2009.
