ICAR PG & PhD Admission 2026 Online Application: Significant news has emerged for students in South Rajasthan—including those from Udaipur—who aspire to pursue higher education and research in the field of agriculture. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has initiated the online application process for the PG (AIEEA) and PhD (AICE-JRF/SRF) entrance examinations for the 2026 academic session. These examinations pave the way for securing admission to the country's prestigious agricultural universities.
This year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced several major changes to the examination system. To enhance convenience for examinees, the number of examination centers has been increased from 89 to 122. Consequently, students from Udaipur and neighboring districts now have a greater likelihood of being allotted a nearby center within their own region.
Application Deadline: June 7, 2026.
Correction Window: June 9 and 10, 2026.
Examination Date: July 4, 2026 (in CBT mode).
Examination Duration: 120 minutes (120 questions; English medium only).
New 'Live Photo' Rule in the Application Process
A major technical change has been implemented during the application process this year. Instead of uploading a pre-captured photograph, candidates are now required to upload a 'live photo' taken using a webcam or a mobile camera. Wearing a face mask, spectacles, or a cap/headgear while capturing the photograph is strictly prohibited.
Eligibility and Attractive Scholarships
Specific age limits and eligibility criteria have also been prescribed for the entrance examinations. For PG courses, a candidate must have attained a minimum age of 19 years as of August 31, 2026, while for PhD programs, the minimum age limit is 20 years. Successful candidates are also awarded attractive fellowships:
PG Students: ₹12,640 per month (for up to 2 years).
PhD Scholars: ₹37,000 per month for the first two years, and ₹42,000 per month for the third year.
Strict Measures Against Cheating and Application Fees
To ensure transparency in the examination process, provisions have been made to impose a three-year ban and initiate criminal proceedings against candidates found using unfair means. Regarding application fees, the fee is set at ₹1,300 for PG courses and ₹2,000 for PhD courses for candidates belonging to the General category. Fee concessions have been provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories. Interested students may visit the official website, https://exams.nta.nic.in/icar/, for detailed information.
