A Waterstones customer has impressed fans after highlighting an 'awesome' deal that numerous shoppers 'never knew' existed. Book enthusiasts revealed they were unaware of a 'free drink' promotion available at selected branches.
Customers were eager to take advantage of the offer after discovering it through a viral video posted on TikTok. Taking to the platform using the username @Phoebes.booktok, a UK-based content creator named Phoebe wrote: "PSA: If you get Waterstones' book of the month, you get a free drink."
In her caption, she added: "Bet you didn't know this about Waterstones! If you get their book of the month (this month is the paperback of the raven's scholar) then you get a free drink! I went for an iced latte with coconut milk and hazelnut syrup!"
For customers visiting participating branches, the monthly promotion could prove worthwhile. The bookshop generally selects multiple Book of the Month winners spanning different categories, including fiction, non-fiction, and children's books.
There are also categories for different genres, including thriller, young adult, and science fiction and fantasy. It could therefore be perfect for Cafe W enthusiasts, reports the Mirror.
Waterstones Bradford recently promoted the deal in a post on its Instagram account, stating: "Enjoy a free drink in our Cafe W when you purchase one of our May BOTM's! A range of books for everyone!"
Judging by the reaction to @Phoebes.booktok's video, many Waterstones shoppers hadn't encountered the deal previously, but they were delighted by it. Her post accumulated over 20,000 views and thousands of likes.
Responding to Phoebe's clip, one fan wrote: "I never knew this!" A second comment said: "No way I never knew this." A third comment read: "For real??" A fourth asked: "HOW?" Another commenter thought: "This is awesome!"
There was more enthusiasm. An eager customer replied: "Omg I must do this." Someone else said: "I did not know this." Phoebe replied: "Ikr! I only found out today!! watch me now buy a new book every month for free coffee."
The viewer responded: "No judgment, buying books is such a hobby." Phoebe added: "Hahaha, it is actually such a great way to spend your Sunday!"
Elsewhere, a book lover shared: "Just found out on Thursday! Bought Heart The Lover." Another commenter said they loved Phoebe's pick, writing: "The Raven Scholar is an amazing book!"
However, one person replied: "Cries in my local Waterstones doesn't have a cafe in it." A similar comment read: "No I didn't know this but I've never been to a Waterstones that does drinks either."
