According to reports, the ICC has planned to hold several meetings of the Executive Committee and the ICC Board to further discuss the future of the World Test Championship. The ICC Chief Executive Meeting will be held virtually on May 21. After that, the actual meetings will be held in Ahmedabad on 30th and 31st May. Interestingly, the final match of IPL 2026 will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on the same day, May 31. The May meetings are part of the ICC’s annual triennial meetings. The meeting, which was scheduled to be held in Doha, Qatar in March-April, was postponed due to the crisis in West Asia and will now be held in India.
Mohsin sought permission from Shahbaz Sharif
According to media reports, the PCB chief has extended India’s invitation to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Now they will decide whether Naqvi will attend this meeting and the final match of IPL 2026 in India. But according to ICC sources, all members of the board have been invited as per protocol.
Question mark on PCB’s involvement
With the ICC board meeting being shifted to Ahmedabad, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s involvement has been questioned. Mohsin Naqvi is usually expected to attend the meeting in person, but given the political tensions between India and Pakistan, as well as strained relations between the two countries’ cricket boards, it is currently unclear whether Naqvi will attend the meeting in person or virtually.
