India Rejects Hague Tribunal Decision: Tension is once again at its peak in the decades-old water dispute between India and Pakistan. India on Saturday completely rejected the decision of the Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) which had heard Pakistan’s objections on issues to hydropower projects in Jammu and Kashmir. India has in clear words termed this entire legal process as ‘illegal’ And it is against the treaty.
‘illegal’ Tribunal proceedings not recognized

India’s tough stance
There is a big policy announcement of India hidden behind this entire controversy. In fact, after the Pahalgam terrorist attack in May 2025, India had taken a unilateral and tough decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty. The Government of India has made it clear that unless Pakistan This treaty will not be reinstated unless we completely and credibly eliminate cross-border terrorism. The government believes that ‘terrorism and negotiations’ Cannot go together and this principle equally applies to water agreements also.
abuse of treaty provisions

No external or illegally constituted body has any right to question the validity of India’s sovereign actions. India has shown a clear mirror to Pakistan, saying that it will continue to pursue its projects in accordance with national interests and will not oppose any ‘illegal’ Will not accept international interference.
