Friends, in today’s modern era, WhatsApp is a popular instant messaging app, which has 4 billion users, WhatsApp is continuously bringing new features with the aim of improving the privacy and overall experience of its users. According to reports, this messaging platform is testing another powerful privacy feature, which may soon be available for iPhone users. This feature was first seen in the Android beta version, and now it has also appeared in the iOS beta testing of WhatsApp. Let us know the complete details
WhatsApp is testing new ‘After Reading’ privacy feature
This new feature is currently available only to a limited number of users running WhatsApp beta version 26.19.10.72 on iOS through Apple’s TestFlight program. Some users of the App Store version may also get this feature before it is released to the general public.
What is this new feature?
WhatsApp is adding a new option called “After Reading” to its existing ‘Disappearing Messages’ settings. Unlike the existing ‘Disappearing Messages’ timer, which starts working the moment a message is sent, this new option will delete the message only after the recipient has read it.
According to reports, users will be able to choose from several timers to delete messages after reading, including:
5 minutes
1 hour
12 hours
If the recipient doesn’t open the message, WhatsApp will automatically delete it after 24 hours.
How will this benefit the users?
It is expected that this feature will give users more control over their private conversations and sensitive information.
Existing ‘Disappearing Message’ options will remain
The new “After Reading” option will work alongside WhatsApp’s existing ‘Disappearing Message’ timer. These timers already allow messages to automatically disappear after the following times:
24 hour
7 days
90 days
Users can apply these settings to an individual chat, or make it the default option for all new conversations. However, the newly added “After Reading” timer will have to be turned on by users themselves.
