The Delhi Capitals keep their hopes alive yet again in the Indian Premier League as Ashutosh Sharma, the DC Impact sub, chased down the remaining 19 runs in the last two overs. With this, they defeat the Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 17.
The Delhi Capitals did a tremendous job earlier with the ball, restricting RR within 200 runs. The team shattered after the skipper, Riyan Parag, departed. On the field, the RR lost the match. They dropped multiple catches, had a few byes, and even had a number of misfields. And DC used all opportunities.

RR's lower order failed to capitalize the early start
Rajasthan Royals posted 193 for 8 in their 20 overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium after contributions from multiple batters in the middle order. The innings began briskly despite Yashasvi Jaiswal departing for 12 off nine balls. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi then injected momentum with a 21-ball 46, striking five fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 219.04. His attacking approach carried Rajasthan to 89 in 7.3 overs before his dismissal.
Dhruv Jurel anchored the innings with 53 from 40 deliveries, mixing stability with acceleration through five boundaries and two sixes. Captain Riyan Parag complemented him with a rapid 51 off 26 balls, including five maximums, as Rajasthan reached 161 by the 14.2-over mark. However, a cluster of wickets disrupted the closing surge.
Donovan Ferreira departed for a first-ball duck, Ravi Singh scored four off two, while Shubham Dubey managed five from nine balls. Dasun Shanaka added 10 from eight before Rajasthan closed on 193. Mitchell Starc led the bowling effort with figures of 4 for 40, while Lungi Ngidi and Madhav Tiwari claimed two wickets each.
Delhi Capitals chased down with 4 balls remaining
Delhi Capitals approached the chase with early intent through Abishek Porel and KL Rahul. The opening pair added 105 runs, with Porel scoring 51 off 31 balls and Rahul compiling 56 from 42 deliveries. Delhi crossed 72 without loss inside the powerplay and reached the 100-run mark in 9.1 overs.
Rajasthan found breakthroughs through Brijesh Sharma and Jofra Archer, who picked up two wickets each, while Shanaka dismissed Rahul. Yet the scoring rate remained intact.
Axar Patel remained unbeaten on 34 from 18 balls, striking two fours and two sixes, while Ashutosh Sharma provided late acceleration with an unbeaten 18 off five balls at a strike rate of 360. Delhi finished on 197 for 5 in 19.2 overs, aided by 16 extras, including 13 wides.
