Lucknow . In a joint action, the Naka Hindola police station of the capital and the surveillance team of the Western Zone have arrested three accused who were betting on IPL matches online. Police have recovered cash worth lakhs of rupees, laptops and several mobile phones from the possession of the accused.
According to the police, information was received from the informer that online betting on IPL matches was being conducted in Duganwa area. Based on the information, the police team raided Birhana Park area and arrested three accused.
The arrested accused have been identified as Saurabh Kumar, resident of Kurmi Tola, Hussainganj, Premshankar, resident of Jaynarayan Road, Hussainganj and Rishu Sonkar, resident of Duganwa Raniganj.
Police have recovered Rs 1 lakh 28 thousand 700 in cash, a laptop, two feature phones, six smartphones and a diary to betting from the accused. Further action is being taken in the matter by registering a case under sections of Gambling Act and BNS in Police Station Naka Hindola. Police say that other people associated with the online betting network are also being investigated through the recovered mobile and laptop.
