People often visit local shops to get their mobile phones recharged. During this process, they are required to disclose their mobile number to the shopkeeper. Consequently, the number remains confined not merely to the shopkeeper; other individuals present in the vicinity may also take note of it.

Many women have reported receiving calls and messages from unknown numbers shortly after getting their phones recharged at local shops. This has raised significant concerns regarding privacy and security. Addressing this very issue, BSNL has launched a new feature called ‘BSNL Kavach’.

**What is BSNL Kavach?**
BSNL Kavach is a privacy-centric feature. It provides a temporary, 10-digit virtual number that is linked to your actual BSNL mobile number. Now, if you need to share your contact details with a shopkeeper, a stranger, or at any other location, you can provide this virtual number instead of your real one.

The most notable aspect of this service is that the recharge amount is credited directly to your actual account, yet the other party remains unaware of your real mobile number. This feature effectively acts as a privacy barrier between you and the other individual.

**How to Activate BSNL Kavach?**
For your convenience, you can avail of the 'Kavach' service through three different methods:

**Via the BSNL SelfCare App:** Download the app on your smartphone and log in. Enter your local details and submit a request for a 'Kavach Number'. Your new virtual number will then appear directly within the app interface.

**Via the Website:** You can also apply for this service online by visiting BSNL's official website.

**Via Customer Care:** Call BSNL Customer Care. Once the verification process is completed, your virtual number will be sent to you via SMS.
