Brazilian wonderkid Endrick may still be a teenager until July, but his football journey has already been filled with significant highs and lows.
After being hailed as one of Brazil’s brightest young prospects during his rise through the Palmeiras academy, Endrick made his senior debut at just 16 years old in October 2022. He quickly wrote his name into the record books by becoming the second-youngest goalscorer in the history of Brazil’s Serie A.
His goal-scoring exploits and impressive performances caught global attention, and by December 2022, Real Madrid confirmed that they had reached an agreement to sign the forward once he turned 18 in the summer of 2024.
By the time Endrick officially joined the Spanish giants, he had already earned his place in the Brazil senior team. His debut goals in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League for Real Madrid showed that his rise was continuing smoothly.
However, an injury towards the end of his debut season disrupted his rhythm. The setback limited his game time during the first half of the 2025/26 campaign, leading to concerns about his chances of featuring in the upcoming World Cup.
His loan move to Lyon has since reignited his form and renewed his ambitions of earning a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for this summer’s tournament. The 19-year-old has been open about how much representing the national team means to him.
“I’ll never forget my first goal, especially because it was at Wembley,” Endrick said in an interview with FourFourTwo when asked about his standout moments in a Brazil jersey.
“It’s definitely the moment I’ll cherish most in my career so far. The circumstances were special – my first goal for Brazil, at Wembley, and sealing a 1-0 win against England.”
Before the current international break, Endrick’s last appearance for Brazil came in March 2025. But following an impressive start at Lyon, he earned a recall, giving fresh life to his World Cup aspirations.
“I didn’t expect to start so well at Lyon, but God has made what seemed impossible happen,” he said.
“Some time ago, I didn’t believe I could make it to the World Cup, but with God everything is possible. I don’t doubt anything – I’ll give my best and take it one day at a time. I focus on the present.”
“I have to train diligently at Lyon, stick to my fitness plan, stay healthy, and perform well in matches.
“If it’s God’s will, I’ll be at the World Cup in June.”
