Delhi rains
Delhi and surrounding regions are expected to remain under strong heatwave conditions from 23 May to 28 May 2026, although intermittent thunderstorm activity has brought brief and localized rain relief in parts of the NCR. Despite these short-lived weather disruptions, the broader pattern continues to be dominated by hot and dry conditions, with only limited cooling effects following thunderstorm spells.

Synoptic Systems Influencing Delhi Weather

A Western Disturbance persists as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and neighbourhood at around 3.1 km above mean sea level, along with a trough in the middle and upper tropospheric westerlies near longitude 75°E north of latitude 25°N.

In addition, an upper air cyclonic circulation remains active over northwest Uttar Pradesh, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, with an associated trough extending towards interior Odisha via East Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Despite these systems, they are not expected to bring significant rainfall or heat relief to Delhi in the short term.

Delhi Weather Forecast: 23 May to 28 May 2026

23 May 2026
Light rainfall lashes parts of Delhi, bringing brief relief even as partly cloudy skies persist with isolated thunderstorm or lightning activity likely in some areas. However, heatwave conditions continue across many pockets of the city. Strong surface winds are also expected, ranging between 20–30 kmph and occasionally gusting up to 40 kmph.

24 May 2026
Mainly clear sky with severe heatwave conditions expected at several locations. Strong surface winds of 20–30 kmph, gusting up to 40 kmph during the day.

25 May 2026
Continued mainly clear sky. Heatwave conditions likely to persist with sustained strong surface winds of 20–30 kmph, occasionally gusting to 40 kmph.

26 May 2026
Clear sky conditions expected. Heatwave conditions continue in several parts with strong winds reaching 20–30 kmph during daytime hours.

27 May 2026
Mainly clear sky with persistent heatwave conditions at isolated places. Winds remain in the range of 20–30 kmph, with occasional gusts.

28 May 2026
Partly cloudy sky expected. Heatwave conditions may continue in a few areas with sustained strong surface winds of 20–30 kmph.

Delhi Temperature Trend: Slight Fluctuations, No Major Relief

Forecast data indicates a slight drop of around 1°C on 23 May 2026, followed by a gradual rise of about 1°C thereafter. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain stable initially, but may rise by around 3°C on 25 May 2026 before dipping slightly again later.

Overall, the pattern suggests continued heat stress with minor short-term variations.

Delhi-NCR Weather: No Significant Rain or Thunderstorm Relief Expected

Although a brief thunderstorm event did occur on 23 May 2026, there is no indication of sustained rainfall or widespread thunderstorm activity across the forecast period. Overall, Delhi continued to experience hot and largely dry conditions through 28 May 2026, with no significant or long-lasting weather system bringing major relief.

Delhi Weather Outlook: Extended Heatwave Spell Likely

From 23 to 28 May 2026, Delhi is expected to remain under prolonged heatwave influence. With limited rain activity and persistent dry winds, daytime conditions will remain harsh.

Authorities continue to advise residents to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours and take necessary precautions against heat stress.
