Kolkata. The ongoing internal strife in West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has now come to the fore. The frequent statements of expelled and suspended leaders are indicating major political divisions within the party. Rebel leader Ritabrata Banerjee has claimed that the Assembly Speaker has accepted the claim of his group of 58 MLAs.

Ritabrata Banerjee said that his group will soon write a letter to Mamata Banerjee requesting her to become the chief advisor of its legislative party. He said that he still considers Mamata Banerjee as his leader and wants her to continue guiding the party.

Claim of getting the room of ‘Leader of Opposition’-
Expelled TMC leader Sandipan Saha also made a big claim saying that his faction has been officially allotted the room of the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. This indicates that the rebel group is trying to establish itself as the real TMC legislative party within the assembly.

Serious allegations made against party leadership-
Ritabrata Banerjee alleged that he tried to raise issues within the party, but was continuously ignored. He said that corruption was a major reason for the election defeat, but despite repeated complaints and evidence, no concrete action was taken.

He also alleged that assurances of action were given after the elections, but the situation did not change. At the same time, he also raised questions about the working style and leadership of Abhishek Banerjee.

Discussion of two camps intensifies in TMC-
Now the discussion has intensified in political circles that two clear factions have formed within TMC. On one side is the official faction of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, while on the other side are the rebel MLAs, who are calling themselves the real legislative party.

Ritabrata Banerjee claims that he has 58 MLAs with him and soon two more MLAs may also join his camp.

Question on the role of Abhishek Banerjee-
Sandipan Saha directly blamed Abhishek Banerjee’s working style for the current situation of the party. He said that if a leader takes credit for success then he should also accept the responsibility of defeat and crisis.

TMC leadership rejected the claims-
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh completely rejected the claims of the rebel group and said that the expelled leader cannot lead the legislature party in any way. He said that letters have been given to the Speaker from both the parties and signatures of many MLAs are present in both the letters.

According to Kunal Ghosh, there will be a legal and parliamentary inquiry into the matter and the final decision will be taken as per the process of the party and the assembly.

Political equations of Bengal can change-
Political analysts believe that if the rebel group is successful in proving its claim of support, then a big change can be seen in the politics of West Bengal. This ongoing conflict within TMC is expected to deepen further in the coming days, while opposition parties are also keeping an eye on the entire incident.
