Ronnie Schell , best known for his work on the popular sitcom ‘ Gomer Pyle: USMC ’, has passed away. He was 94 years old at the time of his passing. The news of the veteran actor and comedian’s passing has hit the industry and his fans hard.

Ronnie Schell passes away at 94According to reports shared by The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran star passed away peacefully at UCLA Hospital in Los Angeles due to natural causes. No other details about his passing have been shared with the public.

Who was Ronnie SchellSchell was a pioneering name in comedy and acting during his time in the industry. He started his career as a comedian when he joined a nightclub in San Francisco for a 5-month-long stint. He began working as a stand-up comedian and held shows at multiple establishments, including North Beach’s Hungry I, Bimbo’s 365 Club and Fack’s 11 Jazz Club, to name a few.

He later transitioned to acting in the game reality TV show called ‘You Bet Your Life.’ He then landed his breakthrough role from 1964 to 1969 in ‘Gomer Pyle: USMC’. Some of his other work included ‘That Girl’, ‘The Andy Griffith Show’, ‘Good Morning World’, ‘The New Dick Van Dyke Show’, ‘The Dukes Of Hazzard’, ‘Charlie’s Angels’, ‘One Day At A Time’, ‘The Love Boat’, ‘Too Close For Comfort ', ' Sledge Hammer!’ and many others. As for movies, he appeared in projects such as ‘The Devil and Max Devlin’ and ‘Carl Reiner’s Fatal Instinct’, ‘Jetsons: The Movie’ and ‘Rover Dangerfield’, to name a few.

Schell acted in the industry from 1958 to 2026, revealing that he led one of the most successful careers of his time. He has more than 150 acting credits over the course of his career. Before his passing, he last appeared in shows such as ‘General Hospital’, ‘Yes, Dear’, and ‘Phil of the Future.’

The actor is survived by his wife Janet, his sons Gregory and Christian, and his granddaughter Chiara.
