News Desk. To curb road accidents in Uttar Pradesh, major changes have been made in the traffic system. Keeping road safety in mind, new speed limits have been implemented on major highways and routes in Moradabad district. Now heavy vehicles like trucks, dumpers and roadways buses will have to move within the prescribed speed limit.
According to the new system, the maximum speed of heavy vehicles outside the municipal limits has been fixed at 40 kilometers per hour. While passing through villages, markets and densely populated areas, the speed of these vehicles will have to be further reduced to 30 kilometers per hour.
On which roads did the new rule apply?
This new speed limit has been implemented on many major routes in the district. These include Dalpatpur-Aliganj route, State Highway-149, Moradabad-Haridwar/Dehradun route, Aligarh-Moradabad (NH-509), Moradabad-Gwan-Bulandshahr route, Moradabad-Tanda-Dadhiyal route and Vahsuma-Chandpur-Thakurdwara-Jaspur route. The maximum speed limit for small vehicles and two-wheelers on these routes has been kept at 60 kilometers per hour.
Decision to prevent accidents
The District Road Safety Committee has taken this step in view of the increasing road accidents. Officials believe that speeding heavy vehicles pose the greatest danger in populated areas. In such areas, it is necessary to reduce the speed for the safety of pedestrians and bike riders.
New speed boards will be installed
To implement the new system, instructions have been given to all concerned departments to install clearly visible speed limit boards on the roads. Indicators will be installed as per the standards so that the drivers can easily see the speed limit even at night. Initially, drivers will be made aware of the new rules. After this, action will be initiated against those doing overspeeding.
These vehicles will get exemption
Some essential service vehicles have been given relief in the new speed limit rules. This ban will not apply to ambulances, fire brigades, police vehicles, army, paramilitary forces and vehicles to disaster management.
Action will be taken on overspeed
The transport department and traffic police will soon conduct a special campaign to check the vehicles. Challans and other legal action will be taken against those driving in excess of the prescribed speed limit.
