Rampur, 17 July. Mohammad Ali Jauhar University has once again come under the scanner of administrative action. After finding serious flaws in the fire safety audit, the fire department has issued a final notice to the university management. The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) has asked the management to provide all the necessary records and respond to the notice within seven days. It has been warned that if the response is not received within the stipulated time, action can be taken to cut off the electricity connection of the university and also seal the campus.
Many serious flaws found in fire safety audit
The team of the Chief Fire Officer had conducted a joint fire safety audit and detailed physical inspection of Jauhar University on June 29 and July 1. During the inspection, fire fighting equipment in many buildings was not found to be as per the prescribed standards. Apart from this, emergency exit arrangements were also found not to be as per the standards at many places. After the inspection, the university management was directed to remove all the deficiencies, install modern fire safety system, install adequate fire fighting equipment, develop emergency exits and fully comply with the safety standards.
Did not respond to first notice
After the fire safety audit, the fire department had issued the first notice to the Jauhar University management, but despite the lapse of the stipulated period, no response was given from the management. After this, the department has now issued the final notice and given the last chance of seven days.
If reply is not received then strict action will be taken
According to fire department officials, if even the last notice is not responded to, then as per rules, other legal action can be taken including cutting the electricity connection of the university, sealing the campus. Chief Fire Officer Vijay Kumar Singh said, “On the basis of deficiencies found in the fire safety audit, an earlier notice was issued, but no response was received. Now a final notice has been issued and time of seven days has been given. If the response is not received even within this period, then action will be taken against the university management as per rules.”
