Luke Ronchi Melbourne Renegades Head Coach: Before the new season of the Big Bash League (BBL), a major change has been seen in both the franchises of Melbourne. Former New Zealand and Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi has been appointed as the new head coach of Melbourne Renegades. Meanwhile, former Renegades coach Cameron White will now be the new head coach of Melbourne Stars. Current Stars coach Peter Moore will take up the new role of Director of Coaching at the club.

Ronchi will leave after India tour

45-year-old Ronchi will take over the responsibility after serving as batting coach with New Zealand Cricket for six years. However, he will remain with the New Zealand team until the end of the India tour in early December and will then fully join the Renegades. Recently he played for ‘Islamabad United’ in the Pakistan Super League. Had reached the playoffs.

Will Ben Stokes also be seen in the team?

Ronchi, along with Renegades High Performance Manager Clint McKay, will begin hiring assistant coaches and rebuilding the team. The club is also eyeing foreign players and according to reports, the Renegades have also approached former England Test captain Ben Stokes regarding the availability.

Renegades will start afresh

This change has come at a time when both of Melbourne’s Big Bash League clubs have been going through major administrative changes over the past few months. With private investment and club transformation plans currently stalled, the Renegades are being rebuilt almost from scratch.

What did Luke Ronchi say?

Luke Ronchi said that the players have gone through a lot of difficult times in recent months and his first aim will be to create a positive environment within the team. He said, ‘I want to create an environment where players can play freely, perform to the best of their ability and challenge for the title this season.’

Tom Latham praised Ronchi

New Zealand captain Tom Latham also praised Ronchi and said that under his guidance, the game of almost every player of the team has improved and the team will definitely miss him.

On the other hand, Cameron White will now take charge of Melbourne Stars. He recently joined ‘Major League Cricket’ Led the San Francisco Unicorns to the playoffs. The Stars hope that the pairing of White and Peter Moore will make the team a strong contender in the title race in the new season.
