Ferrari is set to auction the very first production unit of its much-debated Luce electric car, with all proceeds going to charity. The sale will take place during RM Sotheby’s Monterey Car Week celebrations.

Unlike many “first production” auctions where buyers can customise the car to their liking, Ferrari has chosen to predefine the specification for this unique Luce. The car was sent to Ferrari’s Tailor Made division for an extensive visual and design upgrade before heading to auction.

The exterior of this Luce has been finished in a bespoke Madreperla Semi-Gloss paint, which Ferrari describes as featuring iridescent pigments that transition between green and violet under varying light conditions. To the eye, it appears predominantly as a semi-gloss white. The bright tone extends across the body, with black accent components replaced by new Grigio Corvara elements. The wheels are painted white to match, complemented by custom white brake calipers. Even the Ferrari emblems are positioned against the bright white backdrop. The overall design language gives off a minimalist, almost Apple-inspired aesthetic for a car that has stirred strong opinions.

Inside, this special Luce’s cabin is upholstered in Le Mans metallic leather in a shade called Perla, which is another variant of white. The material, handpicked from Ferrari’s finest Swiss hides, ensures a level of luxury beyond standard models. Ferrari notes that the pale leather helps diffuse natural light throughout the cabin, enhancing the car’s bright and airy atmosphere. The leather is also said to be exceptionally soft, promising comfort along with visual elegance. However, maintaining its pristine whiteness could prove to be a challenge for future owners.

This one-of-a-kind Luce, known as VIN 0, will go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s Monterey event scheduled for August 13–15. The car will be sold without reserve, guaranteeing that it finds a new owner by the end of the auction. The final price is expected to be significant, as all proceeds will benefit The Ferrari Foundation—a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to promoting early childhood development, educational programmes, and advances in healthcare. So while the winning bidder will take home an exclusive piece of Ferrari history, they can also take comfort in knowing their extravagant purchase supports a noble cause. The big question remains: how much will this uniquely styled version of Ferrari’s most controversial model fetch?
