New Delhi. On Tuesday, July 21, Congress protested outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in the name of 'Chalo PM House'. This protest was carried out in protest against the police action taken on Monday against the supporters and students of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Delhi Police detained Rahul Gandhi to end the protest. During this, there was a fierce scuffle between Congress leaders and the police, in which Rahul Gandhi got hurt. One picture also showed bleeding from his nose.

In a video shared on Congress's official In the video, policemen are seen trying to pick them up and remove them from the protest site. Rahul Gandhi is also seen protesting against being removed from there, while the security personnel surround him from all sides and try to take him away. Congress has also shared a picture, in which Rahul Gandhi is seen bleeding from his nose after the police action.

Priyanka Gandhi's video also went viral

In another video released by Congress, party MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is seen standing at the door of a police bus. In the video she is seen refusing to board the bus. After this the policemen are seen taking her inside the bus, while she is protesting against the custody. Congress has also shared several pictures on social media, which show Rahul Gandhi and other leaders being removed from the protest site by the police. The party says that these videos and photographs are proof of how its senior leaders were detained during the demonstration.

How did the protest happen outside the PM residence?

Delhi Police detained Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and several other opposition leaders who were protesting outside the Prime Minister's residence. Rahul Gandhi along with several Congress leaders, including the chief ministers of Karnataka and Kerala, started the protest around 3:30 pm on Tuesday. The protest came a day after Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met students injured during the CJP-led march over the NEET issue.

What did the government say?

Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh said he along with Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan had met Rahul Gandhi at the protest site. According to him, Rahul Gandhi was requested to end the protest. Jitendra Singh claimed that Rahul Gandhi had earlier agreed to end the protest on the condition that the government discusses the NEET issue in Parliament. He also alleged that after the government agreed to the discussion, Rahul Gandhi put forward a new demand for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Jitendra Singh termed this stance of the Congress leader as unfortunate and contrary to every rule of democracy.

At the same time, Congress leaders say that their protest was against the alleged police action against the students. The party alleges that the government is avoiding discussing the NEET issue in Parliament. Congress says it is agitating to demand justice for the students and open discussion on the matter in Parliament.
