UP Assembly Monsoon Session 2026: The monsoon session of Uttar Pradesh Legislature is going to start from 3 August 2026. This session is expected to be very noisy with proceedings of both the Assembly and the Legislative Council. This will be the last monsoon session of Uttar Pradesh before the 2027 assembly elections. In such a situation, heated debate can be seen between the ruling party and the opposition on many issues.
The dates of the monsoon session were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. During the session, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government will try to present the achievements of its tenure before the House, while the opposition parties including Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress can make strategies to corner the government on various issues.
Possibility of attack by opposition on issue to Ram temple
The issue of alleged theft of offerings to the Ram temple in Ayodhya is likely to come up during the session. The opposition can question the government regarding investigation and accountability in this matter. At the same time, the BJP government can try to convey the development works and various schemes done during its tenure to the public through the House. In such a situation, there may be a political conflict between the ruling party and the opposition regarding the issue to Ram Temple.
Samajwadi Party is also likely to raise issues to Johar University in Rampur prominently. The party can seek answers from the government on this issue and raise questions linking it to political vendetta. Apart from this, the opposition may also try to corner the government on student movements and issues to the education sector. Issues to law and order and youth can also become a part of the discussion in the House.
There may be an uproar regarding SIR also
After the completion of the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Uttar Pradesh, the political debate on this issue is also likely to intensify. The opposition has already raised many questions and allegations regarding SIR. In such a situation, during the proceedings of the Assembly and Legislative Council, the opposition can seek clarification from the government regarding this process. The opposition is likely to raise issues like voter list, names of eligible voters and transparency of the process.
Dispute possible over government guidelines regarding Kanwar Yatra
Shravan month will also remain during the monsoon season. During this period, Kanwar Yatra is organized in many parts of the state including Western Uttar Pradesh. Guidelines issued or proposed by the government regarding travel can also become a topic of discussion in the House. The opposition can raise questions on the government regarding these guidelines, while the BJP government can declare law and order and safety of devotees as its priority. There is a possibility of a heated debate between the ruling party and the opposition in the House on this issue also.
In recent times, there have been reports of damage to farmers and crops in many areas due to changes in weather and rain. The opposition can also raise this issue in the Assembly. Answers can be sought from the government on issues like assessment of loss caused to farmers, amount of compensation and government assistance. The opposition may raise questions about how quickly relief is reaching the affected farmers.
Last monsoon session before elections
This will be the last monsoon session of the state before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to be held in 2027. Therefore, its importance has increased significantly from political point of view. It is believed that the ruling party will present an account of its achievements, while the opposition will adopt an aggressive stance regarding the policies and functioning of the government.
