New Delhi:Honda has made a series of unveilings, with the highlight being the ADV160 in India, showing its first maxi-scooter with adventure-inspired styling in the country. It will also be E85 compliant, making it one of the first scooters shown that has flex-fuel compliance.
Honda has said that the ADV160 will be locally made in India and even exported overseas. It has features including single-channel ABS, traction control, and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity.
What we know about the Honda ADV160The Honda ADV160 takes design cues from the bigger X-ADV, coming with a tall adjustable windscreen, twin LED headlights and rugged, block-pattern tyres. Honda noted that the scooter was an introduction to its ‘City Adventure’ concept for the Indian market. With the ADV160 expected to be manufactured locally in India and exported to international markets, it will be competitively priced.
In terms of features, it has a TFT instrument cluster with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, a USB charging port, Honda Selectable Torque Control traction control, single-channel ABS and a practical 27-litre under-seat storage compartment.
In terms of powertrain, it gets a 157cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 16.3hp and 14.9Nm, with a CVT automatic transmission handling power delivery. One of the engine’s big highlights is its E85 compatibility, which lets it run on fuel containing up to 85 per cent ethanol and 15 per cent petrol.
The ADV160 rides on a telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers, getting a 14-inch wheel at the front and a 13-inch wheel at the back. It weighs 133kg, gets a 780mm seat height, has 165 mm of ground clearance and comes with an 8.1-litre fuel tank.
Honda has revealed the ADV160’s specifications but hasn’t given a timeline for its launch. The brand is expected to provide more details about the scooter’s market introduction soon.
