Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: There is good news for athletes preparing for a career in the Railways. Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has invited online applications for recruitment to 56 posts under the sports quota. Eligible Indian athletes from across the country can apply for this recruitment. The application process began on July 25, 2026, and interested candidates can fill out the online form until August 24, 2026.

Recruitment for 56 Posts
A total of 56 posts across various pay levels of the 7th Pay Commission will be filled through this recruitment drive.

Who can apply?
Educational Qualification
For Level-2 and Level-3 posts:

Pass in 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board.

For Level-1 posts:

Pass in 10th standard, OR
ITI qualification, OR
National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) from NCVT.

Sports achievement is also mandatory
Candidates must possess valid sports achievements attained on or after April 1, 2024. For Level-2/3

Participation in designated international or national-level competitions, or
Securing at least the third position in national competitions.

For Level-1

Must have participated in or secured a specified position in designated national or state-level competitions.

Age Limit
Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as of January 1, 2027. The Class 10 mark sheet or certificate will be accepted as proof of age.

What is the salary?
Selected candidates will be appointed in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission norms of the Railways.

Level-3: Grade Pay ₹2000
Level-2: Grade Pay ₹1900
Level-1: Grade Pay ₹1800

Additionally, other allowances will be provided as per rules.

How will the selection take place?
The recruitment process will be completed in two stages.

1. Sports Trial (40 marks)
Candidates will be awarded marks based on:
Sports ability
Physical fitness
Performance
Coach's assessment

Candidates securing 25 or more marks will be eligible for the next stage.

2. Interview and Assessment (60 marks)
Marks in this stage will be awarded based on:
Sports achievements - 50 marks
Educational qualifications - 10 marks

Minimum qualifying marks
For Level-3: 65 marks
For Level-2 and Level-1: 60 marks

Important points regarding recruitment
Selected candidates must complete a two-year probation period.
A bond must be executed to serve Indian Railways for a minimum of five years after appointment.
Candidates must meet the medical standards prescribed for the respective post.
No travel allowance (TA/DA) will be provided by the Railways for attending the sports trial. Players must bring their own sports equipment.
