Vadodara: Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd has successfully raised Rs 1,613.97 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), strengthening its financial position and providing funds to reduce outstanding borrowings. The company allotted 7.11 crore equity shares to qualified institutional buyers as part of the capital-raising exercise completed on July 28, 2026.

The fundraising comes at a time when the power transmission and distribution sector is witnessing increased demand due to infrastructure expansion and energy transition projects across India. Diamond Power Infrastructure plans to utilise the proceeds mainly towards repayment or prepayment of existing loans, helping improve its balance sheet and reduce financial obligations.

Company completes major QIP fundraising exercise

Diamond Power Infrastructure issued equity shares at Rs 227 per share under the QIP, including a premium of Rs 226 per share. The issue price was fixed at a 4.99 per cent discount to the SEBI-approved floor price of Rs 238.92 per share.

The shares issued under the QIP have a face value of Rs 1 each. Through this institutional placement, the company has strengthened its capital base while providing an opportunity for qualified investors to participate in its growth plans.

A Qualified Institutional Placement is a fundraising route available to listed companies in India. It allows companies to raise capital by issuing shares to qualified institutional investors such as mutual funds, insurance companies, banks and other approved financial institutions without going through the longer process associated with a public offering.

The QIP mechanism is often used by companies seeking faster access to institutional capital for expansion, debt reduction or other strategic requirements.

Funds to support debt reduction strategy

The primary objective of Diamond Power Infrastructure’s latest fundraise is to reduce its debt burden. The company has stated that proceeds will be used to repay or prepay certain outstanding borrowings from both promoter and non-promoter groups.

Reducing debt can help companies improve their financial flexibility by lowering interest expenses and strengthening their ability to invest in future opportunities. For infrastructure companies, maintaining a healthy balance sheet is particularly important due to the capital-intensive nature of their operations.

The successful completion of the QIP indicates institutional confidence in the company’s future prospects and its role in India’s growing power infrastructure sector.

Recent business developments

Earlier in July, Diamond Power Infrastructure received a contract confirmation and letter of award (LOA) from Adani Energy Solutions Limited for the supply of AL59 Moose and AL59 Zebra conductors.

Conductors play a crucial role in electricity transmission networks by enabling efficient power transfer across long distances. The order reflects continued demand for transmission equipment as India expands its electricity infrastructure.

The company’s participation in such projects aligns with the broader national focus on strengthening power grids, improving transmission capacity and supporting increasing electricity demand.

Diamond Power Infrastructure’s role in power sector

Headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat, Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd is involved in manufacturing power transmission and distribution equipment. Established in 1970, the company produces power cables, conductors and transmission towers.

Apart from manufacturing activities, the company also undertakes engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects to power infrastructure.

The company operates in a sector that has gained importance due to India’s renewable energy expansion, electrification initiatives and increasing investment in transmission networks. Growing demand for reliable electricity supply has created opportunities for companies involved in power equipment manufacturing and infrastructure development.

Outlook for the company

The successful QIP provides Diamond Power Infrastructure with additional financial resources at a time when infrastructure development remains a key focus area in India. The reduction of borrowings could improve its financial health and support future business growth.

With new orders and stronger institutional participation, the company will look to expand its presence in the power transmission and distribution segment. However, execution capability, project delivery timelines and market conditions will remain important factors influencing its future performance.

Conclusion

Diamond Power Infrastructure’s Rs 1,613.97 crore QIP marks a significant step towards strengthening its financial position. By using the funds primarily for debt reduction, the company aims to create a more stable foundation for future growth. With increasing demand for power infrastructure across India, the company’s latest move could help support its long-term expansion plans.
