The Indian stock market witnessed a bullish trend for the third consecutive trading day. Both the Sensex and Nifty closed with gains on Thursday. Strong buying in auto, financial and media stocks boosted the market. Although IT stocks saw a sell-off, the market maintained its gains on the strength of other sectors. This also led to a significant increase in investor wealth.

At the end of trading, the BSE Sensex rose 166.49 points to close at 78,094.64. The NSE Nifty rose 66.45 points to close at 24,383.60. Buying pressure remained strong in the market. A total of 2,444 stocks advanced, while 1,607 stocks closed with a decline.

Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Jio Financial Services, Mahindra & Mahindra and Adani Ports were the top gainers in the Nifty. These stocks witnessed strong buying, which supported the market. On the other hand, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Max Healthcare and Eternal were the weakest.

Among sectoral indices, the media index rose by about 2 per cent. The auto index rose by 1.6 per cent, while the oil and gas and energy indices rose by about 1 per cent. Pharma, infrastructure and PSU bank stocks also saw strong buying. The IT index fell by about 1.5 per cent, while the FMCG sector also closed slightly lower.

Investors showed confidence in mid-cap and small-cap companies, as well as large-cap stocks. The Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices closed with a gain of about 0.4%. The market rose for the third consecutive day, indicating that investor confidence remained strong.
