Following Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal in Chhattisgarh, Durg MP Vijay Baghel has filed a breach of privilege complaint with the Lok Sabha Speaker against the then Bhilai Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar Pandey, and the Bhilai-Charoda Municipal Corporation Commissioner, D.S. Rajput.
Earlier, a dispute arose between Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal and IAS officer Amit Kataria. MP Brijmohan complained to the Lok Sabha Speaker about Health Department Secretary Kataria’s offensive behavior over the phone. The Lok Sabha Secretariat is also investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the political atmosphere has heated up again with the release of Durg MP Vijay Baghel’s allegations today.
MP Vijay Baghel alleges that officials not only do not answer his calls but also shy away from providing the required assistance and information on matters of public interest. The Municipal Commissioner does not listen to the MPs’ demands. Development work is being carried out in municipal areas without tenders, and payments are made later. Many corruption cases are not even investigated. A letter has been sent to the concerned department through the Department of Public Accounts (DoPT) for action. The Lok Sabha Secretariat has taken a firm stance on this complaint and sought a response from the state government and the concerned officials.
Experts believe that if this behavior of the officials is not curbed in a timely manner, it could escalate into a major conflict on both administrative and political fronts. However, after the Lok Sabha Secretariat has sought a response, all eyes are now on the government’s action.
