According to ESPN, Real Madrid are due to enter a crucial round of contract negotiations with Vinicius Jr’s representatives this week, but the club do not plan to raise their most recent renewal proposal despite the continuing impasse.

As reported earlier today, Real Madrid recently enhanced their offer after the World Cup, putting forward a package worth roughly €22 million per season for the Brazilian forward.

However, sources at the club maintain that this amount is the maximum they are willing to offer.

Although talks are set to continue, there remains a notable financial gap between the two parties.

Vinicius is asking for a salary in the region of €30 million per year, which leaves a sizeable difference between his expectations and Real Madrid’s final proposal.

The Brazilian currently earns about €17.5 million annually and is now heading into the final year of his contract, which runs until June 2027.

There is still no sign of a resolution.

The report states that a face-to-face meeting between club officials and the winger’s representatives has been arranged for this week, with Wednesday expected to be the decisive day in the discussions.

Heading the negotiations for Real Madrid will be chief scout Juni Calafat, who has played a major role in the effort to ensure Vinicius stays at the club.

In spite of the financial differences, both sides remain in communication as they try to reach common ground.

The player and his representatives view this renewal as the most important contract of his career.

At 26 years of age, they believe Vinicius deserves to be rewarded for all he has given since joining from Flamengo in 2018, including scoring in two UEFA Champions League finals and establishing himself as one of the club’s most influential players.

If no agreement is reached, Vinicius will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs outside Spain from January, before potentially leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season.

That raises the possibility of Vinicius leaving Real Madrid.

To prevent that outcome, Real Madrid are ready to consider selling him this summer if the renewal talks break down completely.

According to the report, Los Blancos would look for a transfer fee of around €150 million, even though the winger has only one year left on his current deal.

Vinicius has been strongly linked with Premier League champions Arsenal throughout the summer, although no formal agreement has been reached with any club showing interest.

However, discussions have taken place behind the scenes between the player’s camp and the Gunners, and there is a growing sense of optimism at the Emirates Stadium over a move.

For the moment, the Brazilian has returned to work under new manager Jose Mourinho, completing medical checks and his first training sessions after his post-World Cup break, while uncertainty over his future continues to dominate the headlines.
