Maharashtra Tourism: To promote Maharashtra’s tourism brand more effectively at the national and international levels, it is necessary to make extensive use of digital publicity, effective public relations and innovative media. The state’s rich culture, historical heritage and natural splendor should be effectively presented to the world through modern media, asserted Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai.

A detailed review of the various works being carried out by the Directorate of Tourism under the Public Relations Department and Social Media for the year 2026-27 was held at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of the Tourism Department Sanjay Khandare (I.P.S.), Director of the Directorate of Tourism Vikas Pansare (I.P.S.), Deputy Secretary of the Tourism Department Santosh Rokade, Joint Director Santosh Jadhav, Assistant Director Ravindra Pawar, Executive Engineer Akash Chakor as well as heads and representatives of the concerned media agencies.
Detailed overview of various activities
The meeting took a detailed review of various initiatives on publicity, public relations and social media of Maharashtra Tourism. Necessary instructions were given to the concerned agencies to make accurate, reliable and attractive information available to tourists in a timely manner, to further strengthen the positive image of the tourism department and to make more effective use of digital media for effective publicity of tourist places in the state both at home and abroad.
Maharashtra’s competitive identity in the tourism sector
During this time, innovative awareness campaigns, quality digital content creation, effective social media strategy, coordination between media and planned and timely dissemination of tourism information were discussed in detail. The meeting focused on effectively communicating the features of tourist destinations in Maharashtra to tourists, strengthening the state’s tourism brand and strengthening Maharashtra’s competitive identity in the tourism sector with the help of digital media.
