Manchester United have reached an agreement to send goalkeeper Altay Bayindir to Celta Vigo on loan for the season.

The Spanish side will have an option to sign the Turkey international permanently, reportedly for £3.5m, with United also set to secure a sizeable sell-on clause as part of the arrangement.

Celta Vigo will cover his full wages for the duration of the loan, while performance-related bonuses could allow United to earn additional money from the deal.

Bayindir, who joined United from Fenerbahce for £4.3m in 2023, began last season in the first team but made a number of errors before losing his spot to summer arrival Senne Lammens, who remains the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The 28-year-old has made 17 appearances across his three seasons at Old Trafford.

The transfer is the latest step in the reshaping of United’s squad, particularly in the goalkeeping department, under Michael Carrick.

United have brought in Karl Darlow from Leeds to serve as deputy to Lammens, and they have also sent Andre Onana out on loan after he returned to Trabzonspor.

The club are also expected to sell a third goalkeeper, Radek Vitek, to Middlesbrough in a move that could be worth as much as £14 million. The 22-year-old Czech goalkeeper impressed during a loan spell at Bristol City last season.

United have further strengthened with several outfield signings as they gear up for a return to the Champions League after finishing third in the Premier League last term.

Andrey Santos has joined from Chelsea, while fellow midfielder Youri Tielemans has moved to Old Trafford after United activated his Aston Villa release clause.
