Victor Wembanyama Says a 100-Point Game Is Possible
San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama believes he is capable of achieving one of the most extraordinary feats in NBA history: scoring 100 points in a single game.
The 22-year-old was recently asked whether he thought he could score more than 100 points in an NBA game. His response was simple and confident: “I agree, yeah.”
If Wembanyama ever reaches the milestone, he would join Wilt Chamberlain as only the second player in NBA history to score at least 100 points in one game.
Wembanyama Has Already Shown the Scoring Ability
While 100 points would still require an extraordinary combination of efficiency, minutes and circumstances, Wembanyama has already demonstrated that he can produce huge scoring performances.
During the 2025–26 season, he scored 40 points against the Los Angeles Lakers, reaching 25 points in the first quarter alone. He finished that game with 40 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in just 26 minutes.
That performance briefly raised the possibility of a historic scoring night, although the Spurs had built such a large lead that Wembanyama spent much of the second half on the bench.
Why 100 Points Isn’t Completely Impossible
Scoring 100 points requires much more than simply being an elite scorer.
A player needs to remain on the floor for a large number of minutes, take an enormous number of shots and maintain exceptional efficiency. The team also needs to keep giving him the ball instead of managing his workload once the game is under control.
Wembanyama’s combination of size, shooting ability and offensive versatility makes the idea particularly intriguing. He can score inside, attack mismatches and knock down three-pointers, giving him multiple ways to accumulate points.
Wilt Chamberlain’s Record Remains Untouched
Chamberlain’s 100-point game from 1962 remains the NBA’s single-game scoring record.
Several modern stars have produced extraordinary scoring nights, but none has managed to reach the century mark. Wembanyama’s comments therefore put him among a very small group of players who can realistically be discussed in connection with the record.
Interestingly, Wembanyama already owns several unusual statistical achievements. According to the Spurs’ official game notes, he became the only player in NBA history to record at least 1,500 points, 150 blocks and 100 three-pointers in a season, doing so twice.
A Historic Ceiling for the Spurs Star
Wembanyama’s confidence isn’t necessarily a prediction that he will score 100 points soon. Rather, it reflects how high he believes his offensive ceiling can be.
After reaching the NBA Finals with San Antonio in 2026, Wembanyama enters the next stage of his career with expectations even higher than before.
If he ever gets hot from three-point range while dominating inside and receives enough minutes, the impossible could suddenly become realistic.
The Bottom Line
Victor Wembanyama believes a 100-point NBA game is possible for him, and his recent scoring explosions provide at least some evidence for why he has that confidence.
Breaking Chamberlain’s historic record would require an extraordinary night, but with Wembanyama’s unique combination of size, skill and scoring range, the idea is no longer as far-fetched as it might have sounded a few years ago.
