PM Kisan 24th Installment: Lakhs of farmers across the country are currently awaiting the next—specifically, the 24th—installment of the PM Kisan Yojana. Farmers often have various questions regarding the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. One such question is: if four brothers live in the same house and the agricultural land is registered in all their names, will each of the four brothers receive the ₹6,000 annual installment? Or, because they belong to the same household, will only one brother receive the benefit?
If you also have two, three, or four brothers in your household who are all engaged in farming, you need to understand this rule. Under the PM-KISAN Scheme, merely living together in the same house does not mean that everyone is considered part of the same "family unit." The crucial factors are the family status and in whose name the agricultural land is registered. Let us look at the rules regarding this...
Who is considered a "family" under the PM Kisan Yojana?
According to the rules of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, a farmer's family consists of a husband, wife, and minor children. In other words, simply living in the same house or sharing the same surname does not establish that all brothers belong to the same farmer family unit. Therefore, if four brothers have established separate families and each possesses cultivable land registered in their own name, they can avail the benefits of the PM Kisan Yojana.
When will all four brothers receive ₹6,000?
Suppose four brothers live in the same house, but each has their own separate family, and the cultivable land is registered individually in their respective names. If they meet all the other necessary eligibility criteria for the PM Kisan Yojana, all four brothers can be eligible for the scheme. In such a scenario, each brother could receive ₹6,000 annually; collectively, the four brothers could receive a total direct benefit of ₹24,000 per year.
However, merely owning land does not automatically entitle a farmer to the scheme's installment benefits. Farmers must fulfill all the eligibility conditions prescribed by the PM Kisan Yojana.
What happens if the land is registered in the name of only one brother?
Suppose four brothers live together and farm the land, but the land records list only one brother as the owner. In such a scenario, the other brothers will not receive separate installments under the PM Kisan Yojana. To avail the benefits of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the cultivable land must be registered in the farmer's own name. Simply stating that four brothers farm together is insufficient; what matters is whose name appears in the land records.
Who receives the money if multiple names are listed for the same land?
In some instances, multiple farmers are listed as owners of the same plot of land, and several individuals may attempt to claim benefits under the PM Kisan Yojana based on that single piece of land. The government is conducting physical verification to identify such cases. This process will facilitate the easy identification of individuals claiming benefits improperly. The objective is to ensure that the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi funds reach the genuinely eligible farmers.
When will the ₹2,000 for the 24th PM Kisan installment be released?
The 23rd installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has already been released, and farmers are now awaiting the 24th installment. The key question is when the funds for the 24th installment will be disbursed. However, based on past release patterns, the 24th installment could potentially be released in October. That said, the government has not yet officially announced a specific date for the release of the 24th installment.
