Harry Kane said he was delighted after being awarded the 2026 Golden Shoe as European club football's leading scorer.

"I want to thank Bayern Munich, the staff, the coaches and my teammates - without them, I would not be standing here. A lot of work goes into an award like this.

"I try to help the team in the best way possible. Last season was outstanding, and I am very proud. It was the best season of my career so far.

"I feel very comfortable at Bayern Munich and with the team. We are always aiming for big things, and we want to do that again this season," he said at the award ceremony.

After speaking about the high-scoring nature of German football, the England striker went on to explain his style of play and how he contributes to Vincent Kompany's team.

"I feel very comfortable in all positions; the older you get, the more areas of the pitch you learn. Last year this understanding was even better; the coach allows me to drop deep to help build play, but then push forward again.

"The coach expects a lot from everyone, with and without the ball; the team is very special, and I love winning a tackle just as much as scoring a goal," he added.
