Atletico Madrid have held discussions with Chelsea in London over a possible loan move for Nicolas Jackson.
Jackson is currently training away from Chelsea’s first-team squad as he works towards completing a departure before the transfer deadline. The Senegal striker is back in West London after spending the 2025/26 season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he scored 11 goals across all competitions.
Atletico Madrid have now joined the chase for Jackson. Journalist Nicolo Shira has reported that representatives of Atletico and Chelsea met in the capital on Thursday to go over the terms of a potential deal.
Chelsea are willing to let Jackson leave on loan, with an option to buy included, and talks between the two clubs are said to be progressing.
Atletico are not the only club showing interest in Jackson, with Aston Villa also keen as Unai Emery looks to reunite with his former Villarreal player.
Chelsea would rather not strengthen a direct top-four rival unless Aston Villa are ready to match Jackson’s £65m valuation. Tottenham Hotspur have also looked at the possibility of making a move.
Atletico’s pursuit of Jackson could have an effect on the future of Julian Alvarez. The La Liga club have maintained that Alvarez is not for sale at any price this summer, despite interest from Barcelona.
Alvarez has told Atletico that he wants to leave for Camp Nou, and he was omitted from the squad for Atletico’s season opener against Malaga earlier this week.
