The weather patterns are likely to remain changed in Uttar Pradesh on 24 August 2026. According to the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Lucknow, there may be rain or thundershowers at some places in Western Uttar Pradesh, while there is a possibility of rain at many places in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

More chances of heavy rain in Purvanchal

The probability of rain in many districts of Eastern UP remains higher than that of Western UP. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there may be rain or thundershowers at many places in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Along with this, there are also chances of heavy rain in some areas.

According to the rainfall map of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain at many places in Purvanchal including Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Sant Kabirnagar, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Balrampur, Shravasti and nearby districts of Bahraich. There are chances of rain in Azamgarh, Mau, Jaunpur, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Chitrakoot, Banda and Sonbhadra.

Clouds will rain in central UP also

The weather will also be pleasant in the districts of Central Uttar Pradesh. There may be rain or thundershowers in many districts including Lucknow, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Gonda, Sitapur, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rae Bareli, Amethi and Sultanpur. However, the chances of rain in some areas are going to be relatively less.

It will rain at some places in Western UP

The weather will be relatively less active in western Uttar Pradesh on August 24. There is a possibility of local level rain or thundershowers in some districts including Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, Kasganj, Aligarh, Hathras, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Farrukhabad, Kannauj and Jalaun.

Where can thunder occur?

Along with rain, the Meteorological Department has also warned of lightning. Especially in areas where rain with thunder and lightning is forecast, the risk of lightning will be higher. In such a situation, people are strictly advised to avoid standing in open fields, fields, under trees and near electric poles.

Alert of heavy rain in Purvanchal and future situation

There is a strong possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places in eastern Uttar Pradesh on August 24. According to the warning, due to heavy rains in many parts of Purvanchal, waterlogging in low-lying areas and local traffic may be affected.

According to the seven-day forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers at many places in Western and Eastern UP on August 25 also. Apart from this, this series of rains may continue in different parts of the state during August 26 to 29.

Meteorological Department's appeal to remain alert

In view of the situation of rain and thunderstorm, people have been advised to keep a constant eye on the warnings of the Meteorological Department. In case of lightning, avoid going to open places and stay inside solid and safe buildings. Farmers and residents of rural areas need to be especially careful.
