Toxic Advance Booking: South superstar Yash’s most awaited film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ is all set to create history at the box office even before its release in theatres. According to the initial data of trade website Sacnilk, the film has made a tremendous start in terms of advance booking and has crossed the figure of Rs 40 crore on the very first day. The most important thing is that the film has got ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board (i.e. only for the audience above 18 years of age), despite which the craze about it among the audience is at its peak. Bookings are yet to open completely in many places, especially in Telugu-speaking markets, so it is believed that this figure may reach close to Rs 50 crore before release. Veteran actors like Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth are going to be seen along with Yash in the film, which is directed by Geetu Mohandas. ‘Toxic’ dominates Hindi market too, earns bumper from 2D show alone

This film of Yash has created a huge impact not only in South but also in the Hindi belt. According to a Business Standard report, the Hindi version has earned more than Rs 15.5 crore in advance bookings through the 2D show alone, while separate bookings are coming from premium formats like IMAX, 4DX and Dolby Cinema. In Hindi-speaking markets, Delhi-NCR has recorded advance sales of Rs 2.26 crore including block seats, followed by Mumbai with tickets worth Rs 1.54 crore and Pune with tickets worth Rs 86.61 lakh. Apart from this, a total gross collection of Rs 2.85 crore has been revealed from Gujarat and Rs 3.96 crore from Maharashtra. There is a huge craze about the film in Odisha too, where advance booking of Rs 1.56 crore has been done with 43% occupancy.

The glory of fame continues in Karnataka

Madness can be clearly seen among the fans regarding ‘Toxic’ in superstar Yash’s home ground i.e. Karnataka. In the state of Karnataka alone, the film has earned Rs 17.31 crore in advance booking including block seats. Out of approximately 2,000 shows across the state, more than 1,100 shows have become virtually housefull, while the total occupancy has been recorded at 55%. Talking about premium formats, in Bengaluru the 4DX version has done a business of Rs 27.73 lakh and Kannada IMAX has done a business of Rs 85.91 lakh. Bengaluru city alone has contributed Rs 10.67 crore with 55% occupancy, while in Mysore, tickets worth Rs 1.06 crore have been sold with a whopping 88% occupancy.

Picture may change in Tamil market

The Tamil market is showing a slightly different trend for the film, where the initial occupancy is currently a bit low. Advance sales worth Rs 2 crore, including block seats, have been recorded from 1,455 shows in Tamil Nadu, while the actual occupancy is around 12%, although experts believe that these figures may jump sharply at the last minute because as the release day approaches, there is every possibility of demand for tickets increasing in Tamil Nadu too.

Will the movie rake in Rs 50 crore on the first day?

The film, which is going to be released worldwide on August 26, has so far sold 8.94 lakh tickets for a total of 17,692 shows, taking its real-time booked gross collection to Rs 31.89 crore (more than Rs 41 crore including block seats). Since advance booking is not completely open in many big markets and seats are vacant in many shows, it is believed that the film can reach very close to the Rs 50 crore club on the opening day. Despite getting an ‘A’ certificate, this tremendous response proves that Yash’s magic is at its peak at the box office.
