Carlos Baleba has completed his move to Manchester United as Michael Carrick wrapped up a third midfield signing of the season.

The Cameroon international has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford after joining from Brighton and Hove Albion for an initial fee of £65m.

United may pay a further £5m in add-ons for the 22-year-old, who feels he can take his game to a new level under Carrick, himself a former midfielder.

Baleba has joined Manchester United from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Baleba said: “It is an incredible feeling to join the club of my dreams. Playing at Old Trafford is always special, but the chance to do so as a Manchester United player will be a real honour.

“I cannot wait to work with Michael Carrick; his experience and knowledge of the game make him the ideal coach to help me reach the highest level.

“The ambition of everyone at the club is extremely clear, the future is hugely exciting, and I am determined to play my part in delivering the success that we are capable of together.”

Baleba joins Andrey Santos, a £48m signing from Chelsea, and Youri Tielemans, who arrived from Aston Villa for £35m, in a £148m rebuild of the United midfield.

United first showed interest in him last summer after an excellent 2024-25 season, and although he endured a more difficult campaign last year, they remained keen to bring him in.
