Jeanie Buss is doing whatever it takes to prevent the Buss siblings from selling their remaining share in the Los Angeles Lakers.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Jeanie Buss and her attorney, Adam Streisand, have filed a petition to block the sale of the shares, and a court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 5, according to Sam Amick and Melody Guiterrez of The Athletic.
Jeanie called for Joey and Janie Buss to be removed from those positions for “breach of fiduciary duty,” and here’s what the petition read.
“Their conduct is not driven by financial necessity but by animosity toward Jeanie and in willful disregard for the (Trust), this Court’s 2017 Order, their fiduciary duties, and Dr. Buss’s express intent.”
On August 17, it was revealed that the Buss family was set to sell the remaining 17.8 percent share in the Lakers to the new owners, Bob Iger and Josh Kushner, who agreed to purchase the franchise for a whopping $12.5 billion.
Reports stated that five of the Buss siblings agreed to make the sale, although Jeanie said the sale should be “void” because she did not agree to it.
It has created quite the stir, and even NBA commissioner Adam Silver — who is close with Jeanie Buss — might have to intervene in order to figure out what to do regarding the Buss family selling their shares.
