Abu Dhabi to Host Inaugural EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup

Abu Dhabi is set to host the first-ever EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup, a new four-team tournament that will officially open the European club basketball season.

The inaugural event will take place at Etihad Arena on Yas Island on September 18 and 19, 2026, bringing together four major European basketball clubs.

Four Teams to Compete

The tournament will feature:

  • Olympiacos Piraeus — reigning EuroLeague champions
  • Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul — 2025 EuroLeague champions
  • Real Madrid — 2026 EuroLeague finalists
  • Dubai Basketball — representing the UAE

The competition will use a Final Four format, with two games on each day.

Opening-Day Matchups

The first semi-final will see Olympiacos face Fenerbahce on September 18 at 6pm UAE time.

Later that evening, Dubai Basketball will take on Real Madrid at 9pm.

The winners will advance to the first-ever SuperCup final, while the losing teams will meet in the third-place game.

SuperCup Final on September 19

The tournament will conclude on Saturday, September 19.

The third-place match is scheduled for 6pm, followed by the inaugural EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup final at 9pm UAE time.

The winner will become the first-ever EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup champion.

Abu Dhabi Expands Its Basketball Profile

The event represents another major step in Abu Dhabi’s growing relationship with European basketball. The emirate previously hosted the 2025 EuroLeague Final Four, and the new SuperCup extends that partnership with a season-opening event.

EuroLeague Basketball says the new competition is designed to expand the sport’s international reach while creating a premium annual event featuring some of Europe’s leading clubs.

The Bottom Line

The 2026 EuroLeague Basketball SuperCup will give European basketball fans a new season-opening spectacle, with Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, Real Madrid and Dubai Basketball competing for the inaugural trophy.

With two semi-finals on September 18 and the third-place game and final on September 19, Etihad Arena will become the centre of European club basketball for two days.
