Plenty of transfer activity is still under way at Old Trafford before the summer deadline.

Michael Carrick appears to have kept the door open for Harry Amass to leave Manchester United before the transfer window shuts.

The teenage left-back has been linked with a possible move away from Old Trafford for several weeks, with Man Utd looking to raise funds through more academy graduates.

Amass played for United during pre-season, but he was not included in the squad for last weekend’s surprise 2-0 defeat away to newly-promoted Hull on the opening day of the new Premier League season.

Instead, he started and completed the full 90 minutes for Adam Lawrence’s Under-21 side on Monday as they opened their Premier League 2 campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of Ipswich at The Progress With Unity Stadium.

Speaking again about Amass’ future ahead of the summer window closing at 11pm BST on Tuesday night (September 1), United manager Carrick said on Friday: “It comes to this stage and this is the stage of the window, there is always different scenarios.

“We try and do the best for each individual player while keeping the group strong. We’ve been really pleased with Harry, he had a really good season that didn't end so well with the injury, he’s done really well in pre-season.”

It is still unclear whether United will complete any more signings before the deadline, after bringing in Cameroon international Carlos Baleba from Brighton in a £70million deal this week, following the earlier summer arrivals of fellow midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, along with goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer is set to join West Brom.

United are also believed to have been searching for a long-term left-back successor to Luke Shaw amid the expected departure of Amass, with links to Newcastle star Lewis Hall, Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde, RB Leipzig captain David Raum and Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas.

However, United do look ready to approve a number of further departures after the exits of Casemiro, Rasmus Hojlund, Altay Bayindir, Tyler Fredricson, Radek Vitek, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.

Fiorentina are understood to be in discussions over a move for Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee on an initial season-long loan with an option to make the transfer permanent, while academy graduate midfielder Toby Collyer is reported to be joining former loan club West Brom for an initial £3m.

The Athletic reports that United believe the overall value of that deal could climb to as much as £7.6m through add-ons, with the Red Devils also including a 40 per cent sell-on clause.

BBC Sport say midfielder Dan Gore is in advanced talks over a loan move to League One side Luton, while a transfer is also expected to be arranged for Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon.

Earlier on Friday, St Mirren manager Craig McLeish confirmed that the Scottish Premiership club were close to signing young United defender Louis Jackson on a permanent deal, having already taken Liverpool right-back Calvin Ramsay on loan this week.
