New Delhi: Travel from Delhi to big cities of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar may become much faster in the future. Passengers are expected to get the facility of bullet train through the proposed Delhi-Uttar Pradesh-Bihar High Speed Rail Corridor. According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, after the completion of this project, the distance of about 1,170 kilometers from Delhi to Patna can be covered in just 4 hours 30 minutes.
Currently, it may take about 12 hours or more to reach Patna from Delhi by Rajdhani and other fast trains. In such a situation, when the high speed train starts, the travel time will reduce significantly.
Delhi to Lucknow just 2 hours 12 minutes
The proposed corridor will connect many major cities of North India. According to the estimates shared, the travel time from Delhi to different cities could be as follows:
Delhi-Agra – 200 km – 58 minutes
Delhi-Kanpur – 455 km – 1 hr 50 min
Delhi-Lucknow – 495 km – 2 hours 12 minutes
Delhi-Prayagraj – 750 km – 3 hours
Delhi-Varanasi – 945 km – 3 hours 33 minutes
Delhi-Patna – 1,170 km – 4 hours 30 minutes
Corridor will connect many big cities
This high speed rail network is planned to connect important cities like Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Patna with Delhi. This is also expected to boost business, tourism and religious travels. Especially during festivals like Diwali and Chhath, passengers going from Delhi to UP-Bihar can get a lot of relief in future.
Biggest high speed project after Mumbai-Ahmedabad
Currently work is going on in India on Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor. This 508 kilometer long route is being prepared for an operating speed of 320 kilometers per hour. After this, Delhi-UP-Bihar corridor can be included in the most important high speed rail projects of the country.
How different will Bullet Train be from Vande Bharat?
Vande Bharat is a semi-high-speed train, while the proposed Bullet train will be designed for much higher speeds. The speed of high speed rail can be around 320 to 350 kilometers per hour. However, the final timetable and operational details of the Delhi-UP-Bihar corridor will become clear as the project progresses.
