Players of Madhya Pradesh State Athletics Academy performed brilliantly in the 21st National Youth Athletics Championship-2026 held from 01 to 03 September 2026 at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, Punjab. In the competition, boarding boys’ player Krishna Chandra created a new meet record in men’s javelin throw by throwing 79.92 meters of javelin, while in girls’ javelin throw, academy player Shivani Patel won the bronze medal with a performance of 49.35 meters. In the same event, Shahiba Bano secured fourth place with 48.75 metres.

In men’s javelin throw, 17-year-old player Krishna Chandra of Madhya Pradesh Athletics Academy performed brilliantly and set a new competition record. Krishna threw the javelin 79.92 meters in his first attempt. His fourth attempt was also 78.15 metres. Of the six attempts, only two were valid and both were better than the previous meet record, while the other four were fouls.
Krishna Chandra is training under the guidance of coach Mohammad Hadish at Madhya Pradesh Athletics Academy. After the competition, he told that his aim was to get close to the national record, but due to back pain he could not continue his performance.
Krishna Chandra, a potential contender for Youth Olympics
After Krishna Chandra’s brilliant performance, there is also talk of his possible selection for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games. However, no official announcement has been made by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) regarding his selection yet. In such a situation, his selection is currently considered probable. If he is selected, it will be a big achievement for Madhya Pradesh State Athletics Academy and the state.
Shivani Patel won bronze in javelin throw
In the girls javelin throw event, Madhya Pradesh State Athletics Academy player Shivani Patel won the bronze medal by finishing third with an excellent performance of 49.35 meters. Shivani effectively showcased the sports talent of Madhya Pradesh at the national level with her performance.
Shahiba Bano secured fourth position
In the same event, another player of the academy, Shahiba Bano also performed brilliantly. He finished fourth in the competition by throwing the javelin 48.75 meters. The performance of both the players has brought pride to the academy and the state.
