WhatsApp chats are end-to-end encrypted but most people will say that the messaging app doesn't show it to everyone. But soon, you will see a change in the settings as the encryption label is now appearing on the profile icon at the top of the chat screen. As per the latest details the new feature is being tested with beta users and we can confirm the details independently.

WABetainfo was the first to report the feature being tested and those using the Android beta version will start seeing the new change in the next few days.
WhatsApp has always talked a lot about its privacy features, especially the level of encryption your chats, videos and other content gets on the platform. If you have the WhatsApp Android beta 2.24.3.17 update, you can see End-to-End Encrypted label below the contact or group name. We also noticed a new label appearing on the WhatsApp Web beta version this week.

WhatsApp users used to have to go through multiple loops to see if their chats were encrypted, but that changes now. The beta version rolling out to select users suggests that the final release is not far away and we may soon get the new label for all WhatsApp users.
It's likely that WhatsApp wants to tell users about its security level now that the messaging app is becoming interoperable in the EU after new rules came into effect this month. It is likely that people sending messages from WhatsApp will know that all their content sent through other apps will also be encrypted to the highest standards.
