TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - WhatsApp has a location-sharing feature called Live Location. Released in 2017, the feature allows users to share their real-time location with contacts through individual or group chats.
WhatsApp guarantees that this feature is end-to-end encrypted, which means that no one can see the user's Live Location except for the people they share it with.
How to enable live location sharing
1. The first thing to do is to enable the phone's location services in the phone's settings. This can also be done automatically by enabling location sharing in the Google Maps app.
2. Open an individual or group chat.
3. Tap the attachment, which is the paper clip symbol, and then click 'Location' and follow 'Share live location'.
4. Select the length of time to share the live location. It will stop being shared after the selected amount of time.
5. Hit send.
How to stop sharing live location
Open the individual or group chat, tap Stop Sharing, and then click Stop. Turning off location sharing can also be done by tapping the three-pointed button on the application, then clicking Settings > Privacy > Live location, then tapping Stop sharing and selecting Stop.
