Days after the shooting death of NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reaffirmed that those who are guilty of committing such crimes would face consequences and will not go unpunished. Nobody is going to be safe. Whoever is found culpable would face severe consequences, the Maharashtra chief minister said on Wednesday.

The NCP politician and former minister for Maharashtra, Siddique, was shot outside his Nirmal Nagar office and went down. After receiving emergency care at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after two gunshot wounds to the chest, he passed away on Saturday night.
On Sunday, Baba Siddique’s last rituals were carried out at Bada Qabrastan in Mumbai with full state honors. In the meantime, Mumbai Police on Tuesday provided information on the plot to assassinate Baba Siddiqui. They said that the accused had visited Baba Siddiqui’s home several times without a weapon and that the plan to kill Baba Siddiqui had begun three months before.
As per the details obtained from the Mumbai Crime Branch, Baba Siddiqui’s murder was entirely planned in Pune. Over fifteen people’s statements have been recorded by the Mumbai Crime Branch so far, according to the police.
Mumbai Police disclosed that the fourth accused, Harish, who was arrested in connection with the Siddiqui murder case, acted as a go-between for the arrested shooters, Gurmel Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, who were given Rs 2 lakh by the arrested accused Praveen and Shubham Lonkar, the absconding accused.
According to Mumbai Police, the fourth accused, Harish, who was arrested in the Siddiqui murder case, served as a go-between for the arrested shooters, Gurmel Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, who had received Rs 2 lakh from the arrested accused, Praveen, and the absconding accused, Shubham Lonkar.
“The gunmen received two cell phones in addition to the money; Harish has been in Pune for the last nine years. The accused utilized the social networking app for both calling and talking; the investigation also showed,” the police said.
According to the authorities, accused gunmen Gurmel Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap picked up shooting skills by viewing YouTube videos. The Mumbai Crime Branch is now searching for the other three suspects, while four accused have already been taken into custody.
