If you are an SBI customer planning to use digital banking services today, you might need to reconsider. The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced that several of its digital banking services will remain temporarily unavailable on April 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (IST). During this period, customers will not be able to access internet banking, UPI transactions, the YONO app, or corporate banking services. However, UPI Lite and ATM services will continue to function as usual.
Why Are SBI Services Unavailable? The temporary downtime is due to the bank's annual financial closing process. SBI has informed customers via its official social media handle that this maintenance is crucial for updating financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring a smooth transition into the new fiscal year. Customers are advised to plan their transactions accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Which Services Will Be Affected?Between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM (IST) on April 1, 2025, the following digital banking services will be unavailable:
- Internet Banking
- Corporate Internet Banking
- YONO Lite
- YONO Business
- YONO App
- UPI Transactions
While major banking services will be temporarily down, customers can still use:
- UPI Lite: This service allows small transactions (up to ₹500) without requiring a UPI PIN.
- ATM Services: Customers can withdraw cash and perform basic banking transactions at SBI ATMs.
To avoid disruptions, SBI customers are advised to:
- Complete any essential banking transactions before the scheduled downtime.
- Use alternative bank accounts if necessary.
- Opt for UPI Lite for small payments that do not require a UPI PIN.
- Withdraw cash in advance if needed using ATMs or debit cards.
SBI’s temporary service suspension is a routine part of its annual financial closing to maintain accurate records and ensure seamless banking operations in the new financial year. By planning ahead, customers can avoid last-minute inconvenience and manage their transactions efficiently.
