India’s largest bank, the State Bank of India (SBI), has announced a temporary disruption in its digital services, including internet banking, mobile banking, and UPI transactions.
The outage is scheduled from 1 PM to 4 PM IST on April 1, 2025, due to annual closing activities.
In a public notice, SBI apologized for the inconvenience and recommended customers use UPI Lite, a simplified version of UPI, for small-value transactions during the downtime. Additionally, ATMs will remain functional to ensure access to essential banking services.
New rules for UPI transactions also come into effect today. Banks and UPI providers will now update mobile number records weekly to reduce transaction errors. Inactive UPI-linked numbers will be gradually removed to enhance security.
