New Delhi: The main organiser of Lionel Messis December 13 event Satardu Dutta who was recently arrested told investigators that the football star was unhappy with being touched or hugged during his appearance at Salt Lake Stadium and left before completing his scheduled stay a source from the SIT said on Saturday. During extensive questioning by the Special Investigation Team Dutta revealed that Messi did not like being touched on the back or being hugged and that this concern had been communicated in advance by the foreign security officials responsible for the footballers protection. Despite repeated public announcements to restrain the crowd there was no impact. The manner in which Messi was surrounded and embraced was completely unacceptable to the World Cup-winning footballer Dutta told investigators during his grilling on Friday the source said. Biswas faced allegations of using his position as he granted relatives and personal acquaintances access to Messi. Amid growing criticism he stepped down as sports minister while the investigation is ongoing. Investigators are also looking into how so many people were able to enter the ground area. Dutta also stated that only 150 ground passes were originally issued but the number was tripled when a very influential person arrived at the stadium and overpowered him. Police are investigating whether this increased access played a role in the loss of crowd control. The arrested accused also claimed that once that particular influential person reached the stadium all the flow-chart for the Messi programme got disturbed and he could not control it the official told PTI. As per the SIT officers they found more than Rs 20 crore in Duttas frozen bank accounts He added that during Fridays raids at Duttas residence SIT sleuths also seized several documents Dutta claimed that the amount in his bank account was the money which he got from selling the tickets for the Messi event in Kolkata and Hyderabad and also from the sponsors. West Bengal goverment constituted SIT to probe the vandalism at Messis event Thousands of spectators had bought expensive tickets to attend the event at Salt Lake Stadium but chaos ensued as a large crowd surrounded Messi on the field. This made him barely visible from the stands and sparked anger among fans some of whom later vandalised parts of the stadium. The West Bengal government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by senior IPS officers Piyush Pandey Javed Shamim Supratim Sarkar and Muralidhar to probe the vandalism at Lionel Messi’s event at Salt Lake Stadium. The SIT is also examining security lapses breaches of access and the roles of organisers and officials in the incident the officer added.
